Sarala Birla Public School emerged overall champion with 226 points, 6 Gold medals,8 Silver and 18 bronze medals. It is notable that 12 schools from Ranchi participated in it.
The 4th Ranchi District Inter School Taekwondo Championship held at Sarala Birla Public School on 15th &16th Feb, 2015 was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjay Seth, a social worker and former Chamber President. As Mr. Seth came, he was given a warm welcome by the school Principal Mrs. Poonam Singh, Principals and coordinators of different schools, teachers, students and participants.
Later, a choir-group of students sang a welcome song for the Chief Guest. The School Principal Mrs. Poonam Singh, in her welcome speech underlined Mr. Sanjay Seth’s contribution and his commitment for a noble, social and public cause . She laid stress on the relevance of this sport and said that it is one of the ways of keeping fit and active and ensuring self defense specially for the young students. This was followed by students playing instrumental music in the Chief Guest’s honour and welcome song by the choir group.
Thereafter, the Principal facilitated the Chief Guest with a Ranchi District Taekwondo Association Memento. In his turn, Mr. Seth also facilitated the school Principal Mrs. Poonam Singh with a Ranchi District Taekwondo Association Memento. After that, the Vice President of JTA Mr. Jagdish Singh “Jaggu” put forth his views on the importance of this sport. He said how vital a role it plays in self defense.
In his inaugural speech, Mr. Seth said that conduction of this type of programmes spreads awareness in the students and the society about self defense. He said that study is important and added that keeping fit and active is also equally important. He said that this type of sports should be boosted up to keep students physically fit and mentally alert.
Finally, he went to the arena and announced the inauguration of the programme by hitting a very mild punch at the Chest Guards of the participants. With this, started the 4th Ranchi District Inter School Taekwondo Championship. It started at 9:00 am with a number of scheduled, categorized events taking place one after the other.
The school had arranged nicely for and provided the participants and all the invited guests with lunch.
The championship ended on 16th Feb. with the Organizing President SBPS Principal Mrs. Poonam Singh’s declaration of prize distribution and vote of thanks by a school teacher.

Bronze Medalists : Akash Gupta, Kalash Jain, Satyam Raj, Akshat Jaiswal, Suryansh, Samant Raj, Vaibhav, Binit Garg, Yuvraj Agarwal, Ayush Kumar, Shivam Raj, Naina, Priyanshi, Pratyaksh, Amit Kr. Choudhary, Satyam Glaidu, Nikhil Kr. Mahto & Shubham Garg.
Finally the programme ended with the National Anthem.
