Recognising the pivotal role of teachers in ensuring child – centered learning and holistic child development, CBSE organised a ‘Capacity Building programme for teachers on Life Skills’ on 15th October.2016 at Sarala Birla Public School, Ranchi. Around 50 participants from 22 schools in and around Ranchi attended the workshop. The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp. It was followed by a welcome song by the pupils. Mr.R.R. Meena Regional Officer, Patna Region accompanied by Mr. A.K. Singh Principal JVM Shyamali, Ranchi and Dr. Manohar Lal Principal Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School Ranchi were also present for the valediction. The resource persons were ‘Mrs. Samita Sinha’, Principal, ‘Surendranath Centenary School’ and Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, Principal, Sarala Birla Public School Ranchi. They talked about the development of ‘Life- Skills’ to enhance the students’ thinking skills, social skills and emotional skills. They suggested to integrate life-skill with other subjects. The session was made interesting by incorporating games as exercise to convey the concepts. In this way, the teachers were familiarised with life skills through various activities. The teachers too articulated their difficulties and were assisted by the resource persons to cope up with the same.
