THE ANNUAL SPORTS MEET-2016
UDAAN – Soaring high
The  playground of Sarala Birla Public School was filled with the atmosphere of zest, euphoria and frolic on 22nd December ‘2016 as the school celebrated its “Annual Sports Meet –2016 UDAAN-Soaring High”. The Sports day commenced by the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Mr. Amar Bauri, Revenue & Land Reforms, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Jharkhand. The function began with the March past. The flag was hoisting and the sports meet was declared open and the oath was administered to participate in the sports day with true sportsman spirit. It was followed by a melodious welcome song. On this auspicious day, the NEWSLETTER was also released. The chief guest, delivered the speech wherein he emphasized on the importance of sports in the children’s life and the dos and the don’ts in the area of sports. His speech was inspiring and valuable. Then the 100 meter race began, and the air was filled with cheering and encouragement for the young athletes. An energizing exercise drill set the tone for the rest of the events. It was followed by a wide array of events such as yoga, taekwondo, relay race, 200 mt race etc. The girls of grade VI to IX presented a dance in which they made a use of hula-hoop. They mesmerized the audience with their performance. The winners of different events i.e. badminton, basketball, 400 mt race, long jump, discuss, shot put, chess, wushu, cricket, football, shooting were given medals and certificates. Two students, Akshay Kumar Rai and Shashank Pandey were honoured with trophies as they brought laurels to the school by winning medals at National Level. Seven more children: Mangalam Dwivedi, Ankit Raj, Kunal Choudhary, Kumari Sapna, Sakhi Bangar, Eklavya Oroan and Vijay Lakshmi were honoured with trophies as they qualified for the Nationals in various events.
 Towards the end, an event for the teachers was organized which added to the enthusiasm. The day ended with the dignitaries presenting the winning house Yajur Veda with winner’s trophy. The programme concluded with  the vote of thanks followed by National Anthem.
